iPhone Prices in the UAE: What You Actually Pay

The same iPhone can be listed at several different prices across UAE shops on the same day, and the gap is almost never a mistake: it comes from the stock source (official UAE units vs imported ones), the condition (new, open-box or refurbished), the storage size and the shop's margin. UAE official pricing is among the lowest in the region because of the 5% VAT, which is why imported stock does not undercut it the way it does elsewhere; the real savings in the UAE are in refurbished units and in picking the shop that is cheapest for the exact model and storage you want. PriceTeq lists every iPhone we see across UAE shops in AED, VAT included, grouped by model and storage so the comparison is like for like.

Official UAE stock vs imported

An official (UAE-spec) iPhone is sold through Apple's regional channel and carries Apple's standard warranty, serviceable at any authorised provider in the UAE. Imported units - commonly from the US, Hong Kong or Japan - are genuine iPhones but may be a different regional model: US models since the iPhone 14 are eSIM-only with no physical SIM tray, some regions ship a dual-SIM variant, and the shop warranty may replace Apple's.

Neither is wrong to buy; the point is to know which one you are paying for. A listing priced noticeably under the official price for a new, sealed unit is usually an import - ask about the model variant and the warranty before paying.

  • Official UAE: Apple warranty, physical SIM + eSIM, serviceable locally.
  • Imported: genuine, possibly eSIM-only (US) or dual-SIM (HK/CN), warranty terms vary by shop.
  • Check the model number in Settings > General > About against Apple's regional list.

New, open-box and refurbished iPhones

Refurbished iPhones are a large part of the UAE market, sold by specialist shops with grades (A, B, C) that describe cosmetic condition. On an iPhone the number that matters most is battery health: ask for the percentage in Settings > Battery, and treat anything under 85% as a near-term battery replacement. Also confirm Face ID works, the display is original (an aftermarket display shows a warning in Settings on recent models) and the phone is not activation-locked.

Open-box units are returns or display models at a small discount; they should be functionally new. Always check the serial on Apple's coverage page before paying.

Why the same model has several prices

Storage drives the biggest gap: the step from 128 GB to 256 GB is a fixed amount at Apple but shops price it differently, and an older generation at a higher storage can cost the same as the newest base model. Colour and bundle (case, charger) move the price a little; stock source and condition move it a lot. When a shop is far cheaper than the rest for a "new" unit, assume import or open-box until confirmed.

  • Compare the same model AND storage - a 256 GB listing is not cheaper than a 128 GB one.
  • Stock source and condition explain nearly every large price gap.
  • The newest base model often costs the same as last year's higher-storage one; decide what you value.

Frequently asked questions

›Are iPhones cheaper in the UAE than elsewhere?

Official UAE pricing is among the lowest in the region because VAT is only 5%. Imported stock therefore rarely undercuts it by much; the real savings in the UAE come from refurbished units and from comparing shops for the exact model and storage.

›Does an imported iPhone work on UAE networks?

Yes, a genuine unlocked iPhone works on du, e& and Virgin. US models from the iPhone 14 onwards are eSIM-only, which is fine for most UAE plans but means no physical SIM tray.

›Is a refurbished iPhone worth it?

Often, if battery health is 85% or better, Face ID and the display are original and the shop gives a written warranty. Check the serial on Apple's coverage page and the activation lock before you pay.
