Gulf Electronics Price Index: October 2026

Source. PriceTeq reads the public websites of electronics shops in each market every night and records each product's price and stock. This edition uses the month-end prices of 19,564 listings at 228 shops. No shop pays to be included, and shops do not supply or review the figures.

Same product. A product counts as the same in two markets only when the model, the storage and, where a model comes in versions, the RAM, the 4G or 5G version and the Wi-Fi or Cellular version all match. A listing that does not say which version it is gets left out rather than guessed. For laptops we compare MacBook Air models only (screen, chip, RAM and storage), where the configuration is unambiguous.

What is left out. Used, refurbished, open-box and activated units; pre-orders (the price can be a deposit); bundles and gift offers; accessories; limited editions; and imported regional versions (Chinese, Hong Kong, Japanese, US, Canadian, European or "international" models). For iPhones, where a market's shops sell both the eSIM-only and the nano-SIM version, the version fewer shops sell is left out.

Month-end price. A listing's price is the one it showed most often, in stock, over the last 4 well-covered days of the month (Oct 28, Oct 29, Oct 30, Oct 31), seen on at least 2 of them, so a one-day error never becomes a price. Prices are what the buyer pays: when a shop lists prices before VAT, we add the market's rate.

Typical price. For each product and market we take each shop's lowest price. A shop more than 30% away from the market's median is left out as a likely different version; the typical price is the median of the rest, and needs at least 3 shops. A market more than 60% away from the product's median across markets is treated as a mismatch and dropped. A product is published when it has a typical price in 4 or more markets; the 40 most widely sold are shown.

Price level. For each product we divide a market's typical US dollar price by the product's median across markets, then average those ratios geometrically over the products the market prices. 100 is the median market.

Limits. These are advertised online prices, not prices agreed in a store. Visitors who reclaim VAT at the airport pay less than the shelf price shown here. Coverage differs by market (Bahrain, Oman and Egypt price fewer of the 40 products), and a different basket can move a market's level by a point or two. Figures are frozen when an edition is published and are not revised.
