PriceTeq (priceteq.com) is a price-comparison website for electronics in the Gulf, Jordan and Egypt. This policy explains what we collect, why, and for how long.
What we collect
- When you browse: the pages you visit, your browser type, the site that referred you, and your IP address. We use this to understand which pages are useful and to keep automated scrapers out. Raw IP addresses are deleted after 30 days.
- Google Analytics: we use Google Analytics to measure visits. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
- When you click through to a shop: we record that a visit went to that shop, so we can show shops how many buyers we send them. This record does not include your name.
- If you create an account: your email address and username, plus anything you choose to post (reviews, ratings, polls, discussions) and your saved items and price alerts. We send sign-in links and alerts by email through our email provider, Resend.
- If you contact us or a shop signs up: the name, phone number, email and message you send us.
- If you chat with Volt, our shopping assistant: your messages are sent to an AI provider (Groq, or Google Gemini or Anthropic as fallbacks) to generate an answer.
- Advertising: some pages show ads served by Google AdSense. See Advertising below.
Advertising
PriceTeq is free to use, and some of its pages carry ads to help cover the running costs. The ads are served by Google AdSense; we choose where an ad box appears, Google chooses which ad fills it. Ads are always labelled "Advertisement" and are kept apart from shop prices. No shop pays to rank, and an ad never changes the order of the prices we show.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to PriceTeq or to other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Google explains what it collects in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
- You can turn off personalised advertising from Google in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of other vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu. With personalisation off you still see ads, but they are based on the page, not on you.
- If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, a consent message from Google (a Google-certified consent platform) asks for your choice before any advertising cookies are used, and you can change that choice later from the privacy and cookie settings link it leaves on the page.
Ads are not shown in your account, the shop portal, our pages for shops, or sign-in pages.
What we don't do
We don't sell your personal data. We don't share it with shops, except that a shop sees aggregate numbers of visitors we sent it. Prices on PriceTeq come from shops' public websites, not from you.
Who processes data for us
Our own server in Germany (hosting and database), Cloudflare (network delivery and security), Google (analytics and advertising), Resend (email), and the AI providers named above.
How long we keep it
- IP addresses: 30 days.
- Account data: until you delete your account or ask us to.
- Analytics: per Google Analytics' retention settings.
- Advertising cookies: set and kept by Google under its own policies; you can delete them in your browser at any time.
- Messages you send us: as long as needed to answer and follow up.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your account and data at any time: email [email protected]. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings. Advertising choices are covered under Advertising above.
