SR-L500MK2 Electrostatic Headphones

The Stax SR-L500MK2 Electrostatic Headphones embody Stax’s commitment to high-fidelity audio, offering a refined electrostatic experience within their popular “Advanced Lambda” series. These open-back earspeakers utilize a push-pull electrostatic oval sound element with a hand-selected thin-film diaphragm and durable stainless fixed electrodes, delivering a balanced and highly detailed sound from 7Â Hz to 41,000Â Hz. Key enhancements in the MK2 version include detachable HiFCâ„¢ (High-Performance Pure Copper) cables for improved signal transmission and user convenience, along with robust aluminum case holders (yokes) that replace the previous plastic, enhancing durability, fit, and low-frequency response. High-quality synthetic leather earpads and a 10-click adjustable headband ensure superb comfort for extended listening. With a sensitivity of 101 dB and requiring Stax’s standard 580V DC Pro bias, the SR-L500MK2 offers Stax’s signature speed, transparency, and expansive soundstage. It provides a more robust and refined build than the SR-L300, delivering a compelling blend of performance and value as a true mid-range electrostatic champion, though it requires a dedicated electrostatic amplifier to function.
